Bakersfield Babes DO Lunch

Ladies who lunch is a phrase that was often used to describe wealthy, superbly dressed women who had nothing but time, so they would meet for social luncheons, usually during the working week. Typically, the women involved were married and non-working. Normally the lunch would take place in a high-class restaurant, or a department store during one of their many a shopping extravaganza. Most of the time the lunches took place under the pretext of raising money for charity.

Well the Bakersfield Babes have combined and deleted a few things from the traditional “ladies who Lunch” The women are professional and looking for opportunities while giving back to a charity.

The phrase "ladies who lunch" historically received somewhat of a negative connotation. Ladies who lunch are often seen as lacking substance. But, the Bakersfield Babes who lunch every month, and I happen to be one of them, have lots of substance, contacts, and purpose and always raising money for a good cause. The next luncheon is raising money for Marley Mutts.

The next luncheon is in December at Wiki’s. Typically "Bakersfield Babes in Business" connect for lunch every third Wednesday. But, you will have to check their face book page. Bakersfield Blaze Welcome Back Elmore Sports Group

The Bakersfield Blaze announced that D.G. Elmore of the Elmore Sports Group has reclaimed ownership of the club, the second ownership transition in the past two years.

The Bakersfield Blaze most recently changed hands in March of 2012 when local businessmen Gene Voiland and Chad Hathaway purchased the club from Elmore. The two oilmen showed their commitment to Bakersfield by immediately improving Sam Lynn Ballpark with hundreds of thousands of dollars in renovations. The Blaze went on to post one of the best seasons in recent history in 2012 both in the stands and on the field, and 2013 showed another massive jump in attendance.

The future looked just as bright, as Voiland and Hathaway rolled out plans for a stunning new ballpark on the west side of Bakersfield. Last week, however, the owners announced that the stadium plan was not to be, as Voiland and Hathaway were able to raise roughly 60% of the necessary private funds needed to build the yard.

“I had every hope that Gene and Chad would build a great new ballpark for the Bakersfield community,” Elmore noted. “Since they were unable to complete that ballpark project and chose not to pay a loan that was due to me for the purchase of the team, I have decided to move back into control of this storied franchise in a tremendous city, and I’m extremely excited to see what the future holds.”

General Manager Elizabeth Martin has been with the club since October, 2010, and has helped oversee both ballclub operations and ownership transitions. Along with her staff, Martin has orchestrated the turnaround at Sam Lynn Ballpark with cleaner facilities, increased promotions, a fan-friendly environment and knowledgeable employees. “Working with D.G. Elmore in 2011 was easy and enjoyable,” said Martin, of her first owner in Bakersfield. “Gene Voiland and Chad Hathaway have been fabulous mentors in business, as well, and the community should take solace that the team is in extremely capable hands, regardless of what the ‘Ownership’ page on the website reads. Everything that the city has grown to love about the organization over the last two to three years will stay exactly the same, and we will continue to add going forward.”

The team will continue to play at the remodeled Sam Lynn Ballpark, with Opening Day of the 2014 season scheduled for Thursday, April 3.

Today,

I woke up and looked over the forever TO DO List. I have to keep a list like most women, because there are so many demands on me. I'm a Mother, a wife, a sister, a aunt, a friend, a best friend, a ultimate girlfriend, a CEO, a producer, a Creator. A you get the picture. And today my list needs three assistants, that I can't afford to pay today. SO I guess, I will start marking things off, one at a time.

I'm going to do the fun things this morning, like call and set another massage. This has been a rough 2 weeks, so I need a little extra loving and a great massage is one way to wipe out the frustration for an hour in a half. Then I'm going to make me a salad, with a early glass of wine and then get started on my list. The truth is, I'm not going to be much good today, cause I don't feel like working. My mind, body and soul is CRAVING a vacation.

So in order to win in this game called LIFE. I must listen to my inner self to win. So today, I'm going to do half my list and then give me some more attention, because I still need it.
