Ladies who lunch is a phrase that was often used to describe wealthy, superbly dressed women who had nothing but time, so they would meet for social luncheons, usually during the working week. Typically, the women involved were married and non-working. Normally the lunch would take place in a high-class restaurant, or a department store during one of their many a shopping extravaganza. Most of the time the lunches took place under the pretext of raising money for charity.
Well the Bakersfield Babes have combined and deleted a few things from the traditional “ladies who Lunch” The women are professional and looking for opportunities while giving back to a charity.
The phrase "ladies who lunch" historically received somewhat of a negative connotation. Ladies who lunch are often seen as lacking substance. But, the Bakersfield Babes who lunch every month, and I happen to be one of them, have lots of substance, contacts, and purpose and always raising money for a good cause. The next luncheon is raising money for Marley Mutts.
The next luncheon is in December at Wiki’s. Typically "Bakersfield Babes in Business" connect for lunch every third Wednesday. But, you will have to check their face book page. The date is going to change for December.
